Government of South Australia Selects SunGard Higher Education to Help Create New Digital Campus
July 15, 2009 — Malvern, PA
TAFE South Australia, the Australian state’s largest provider of vocational education training owned and funded by the Government of South Australia, has selected the Banner Unified Digital Campus (UDC) from SunGard Higher Education to meet the growing needs of its 80,000-strong constituency of learners, teachers, administrators, alumni, employers and other key stakeholders.
The Government of South Australia funded the project to replace its student administration system with a modern, integrated, fully functional online system. The project objective is part of an overall skills strategy for South Australia, to help ensure the State continues to meet the skills needs of industry into the future. SunGard Higher Education’s Banner UDC solution was selected to create and extend a digital campus that would help manage students across more than 50 TAFE South Australia campuses.
State Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education Hon. Michael O'Brien MP said, “The Government of South Australia is committed to investing in a modern and flexible administrative system which will help ensure TAFE South Australia continues to meet the skills needs of the future. This will help improve efficiency and achieve cost savings.”
By moving to the Banner Unified Digital Campus, TAFE South Australia will provide a personalized experience for students and single point of secure access. The Banner Unified Digital Campus will also help TAFE South Australia better manage service and course offerings and improve data accuracy. The system will also help streamline administration and consolidate state-wide data management and management reporting for audit, analysis and improved decision making.
“The Banner Unified Digital Campus system will help students and industry engage with TAFE South Australia teachers and administrators online or on-campus, thereby giving them more flexibility to manage their study, work and other time commitments,” said Andrew Templer, general manager, SunGard Higher Education, Asia Pacific. “Our service team will work closely with the TAFE South Australia team on best practices for a successful phased implementation that includes solutions for managing students, financial aid, alumni, and more.”
Mr. Templer also stated, “SunGard Higher Education is strongly positioned and has relevant local and international experience to help execute the business strategies required for this significant project. We are committed to helping TAFE South Australia achieve high levels of service and enhance its position as a global leader in education services.”
