Alun Green is a general manager within SunGard’s brokerage and clearance business. Mr. Green provides strategic direction and leadership for SunGard’s GMI and Octagon solutions for futures and listed derivatives processing and accounting. Mr. Green has more than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry. Most recently, he was head of IT business analysis for Calyon Financial.
Context
Alun Green is an expert in the areas of settlement, clearing and accounting operations for exchange-traded and OTC-cleared (CCP) derivatives. He drives tech-nology and service initiatives aimed at helping futures commission merchants and other derivatives brokers to reduce costs, improve client service and data delivery, enhance execution and clearing, and expand business opportunities. Mr. Green is experienced in building and managing integrated futures, FX, commodities and securities businesses encompassing operations, clearing, systems, technology, legal, compliance, finance and administration.
Commentary
Middle- and back-office software is a critical part of the transaction chain and a key focal point for efforts to improve efficiency. Derivatives brokers continue to feel the pressure on margins, which is driving them to improve performance in all areas, including trade processing. In the face of increasing volume, additional products and exchanges, growing global business complexity, and greater expectations for results, traders are always seeking new products to trade and they expect their brokers to be ready. In Asia, for example, new markets will be emerging over the next few years, especially in the case of China. It is important to understand the cultural nuances of the region and the details of each market. SunGard has made significant strides in expanding its GMI business in Hong Kong and the Peoples Republic of China.
